Never trust an exasperated Malaysian

So, there we were, in Kuala Lumpur airport, being told that our bags would definitely be put on the plane to Cambodia. I asked again, in a different way, just to make sure that she fully understood the situation: "You see, they told us they could only check them as far as Kuala Lumpur and we'd have to have them checked on physically after that. We have boarding passes for Cambodia, but our bags are not checked on". So she goes to her computer, checks again and tells us, with a rather exasperated tone and speaking as slowly as we had been to her, that, yes, our bags, two of them, if we needed more proof that she knew what she was talking about, would be checked onto the next flight to Cambodia. Feeling a little sheepish at having asked so many times, when she obviously knew what she was doing, we walked away, relieved that we had so much time to now get our connecting flight.

As the title of this post suggests, she did not in fact know what she was talking about. We arrived in Cambodia and by the time we went through all of the visa procedures and passport control, there was only us and some Canadians left by the baggage carousel, with two bags on it. Theirs and some random bag. But certainly not ours. It didn't take us long to work out that our bags never did make it onto that plane in Kuala Lumpur.

Despondent, but not entirely surprised at the situation we found ourselves in, we bid farewell to the Canadians and headed over to lost baggage. The long and the short of it is, we are now two days into our trip, and still wearing the same clothes. We phoned the airport today, but our bags still haven't arrived. Hopefully tomorrow. Sigh.
